1 Prologue

Light on. Narrator describes a scene from Shakespeare’s King Lear and the others show the development of the story acting as if they are puppets.

NARRATOR
Once there was a king in a country. And the king had three beautiful daughters. The aged king wanted to give his three daughters his crown and his wide territory. He says his daughters. “I will inherit the biggest part of my territory to the daughter who loves me the most.” The first daughter says. “I love you more than words can express, my father.” The second says. “Only you have worth for me.” Now, it is the third’s turn. She comes forward and says. “I love you, my Father, but I don’t have anything to say more.” The king was surprised, because the daughter he loves most said that she didn’t have anything to say. He says, “I will give you another chance.” But the daughter says again, “I love you as my father, but I can’t say my love as words. The king was furious. “If you don’t have anything to say, you will not receive anything. I will give you one final chance to day.” But she doesn’t anything but repeating what she did. “I love you as my father but I don’t have anything to say more.” Outraged king. “I am now banishing you!”

NARRATOR
However, the king who banished his youngest daughter is never happy. Because he was abandoned his daughters who said unlimited love to him. Upon receiving the throne and the earth, two daughters completely change. The king is no more their father but a fool who lost the power. All the family relationships disappear and, losing everything, the king is banished to the desert. Furious King.

When everybody leaves

NARRATOR –
(Pointing to them)
They are the main characters in our story. James is now rehearsing a musical theatre in the college. Maybe, do you know which play it was? Yes, you are right. It is Shakespeare’s King Lear. I think you all know about this play. The King Lear is the story of a family. We have a father, the King Lear and his three daughters, but two of them betray him, and even though the youngest daughter loves his father sincerely, she is banished and finally all the family, including the father and the youngest daughter will die. Sad, the play is a really heart breaking story. The play we prepared is also a family story. From now on, you will see our family story.

Music start and Mary brings a cake, a photo and candles

Everybody is running to each one’s destination.

Narrator
Everybody is busy during rush hour. This is the house where those four siblings since their parents passed away. Today is their dead mother’s birthday. I love their mind to remember their dead parents’ birthday. However is this funny? They commemorate it with cake which is not usual for us. They are so called a new generation. Anyway our story will happen at this house.
(Changing the ambience and throwing away clothes)
Now we will proceed to talk our story in earnest. Time passed, now, it is time to come back home.
(to the control room)
Light!
(the light changes)
It is always Mary, the oldest sister, comes first.

2 – Family

누나들 모두 나와 JAMES를 끌고 들어가고 조명 바뀌며 음악 흐르는 가운데 MARY만 무대에 남아있다. 무대 다른 쪽에서는 어린이로 바뀐 네 형제와 엄마 아빠가 함께 차를 타고 여행을 가고 있다. 서로 얘기하고 SONG 부르며 아주 즐겁게 가고 있다. 사고가 나고 부모는 아이들을 남겨 놓은 채 MARY에게 귓속말을 하고 사라진다.
